a bit of white smoke when Vtec kicks in
My friend just noticed that everytime I hit high revs on my 2000 Honda Prelude smoke comes out. Is this common?
The car has 60,000 miles on it and a recent tune up was just done 10k miles ago.
What would be the solution to this if it is a problem?
thanks

Basically, it's unburned fuel. Lude's are known to run rich (which is why your rear bumper is probably getting dirty all the time); but particularly when going into VTEC it tends to get worse. Nothing to be extremely worried about; get a good tune and you should be able to make it go away. Also, if you hit VTEC often, you'll probably notice it happening it less as you clear out the hydrocarbons more consistently and also as your ECU learns your engine.
yeah I wouldn't worry about it... mine does it too, I often tell ppl that when we race and I smoke them that I mean that both literally and figurativley
The white smoke could also be a head gasket going out too...Mine just blew when I was like 400+ miles away from home and had to tow it back
And my lude always black crap on the rear bumper, and then I check the oil and there's like NO F'N oil on the dipstick! wtf?!!
