Distributor and ECU interchangibility among Si's
First time poster here on the site. I used the search function but I didn't find much. We have 3 Hondas at the house, a 88 CRX si (ITA race car), daily driver 89 Civic si, and a 90 Civic Si.
The 89 Si's check engine light came on a few months ago and it ran the code that something was malfunctioning in the distributor. I think it was the crank angle sensor. I went into the Honda manual, and one of the sensors tested bad. I believe my only choice is to replace the distributor. They are very pricey at the local parts store for a reman, so I am looking to swap it with another car.
The 88 and 89 have the distributors code TD02 and the 90 had the TD18. I was wondering if I can take the 90's distributor and install it in the 89. I don't want to remove the one out the 88 because the we plan on racing the car in a few weeks and it is best to leave a good working car alone.
Here is a pic of the 88 and the 90:

the 89 90 91 dizzy will interchange however the 88 has one diffrent plug. i have a 88 dizzy in my 91 and i mad a jumper for it
Sounds good, I will swap them out tomorrow.
The 88 was having bogging, idling and starting problems, so my dad also swapped ECUs between the 88 and the 90. The car (88) did work better (but not great) and the 90 exhibited the same problems as the 88. Are those ECUs interchangeable? It is obvious they do work in the other car, but I mean are they properly interchangeable?

I can confirm with 100% certainty that the td-02u and td-18u are interchangeable fully. I have a box full of old distributors in my garage, and if you check my sig, you will see why.
