I have the 2 RCA's from the Panasonic tv (42") connected at the AUDIO OUT to the Sony (STRD 1015 receivers TV AUDIO IN. The blue ray dvd player is connected to the tv using an HDMI cable. The dvd player works fine through the tv, but the reciever will not play audio from a tv station or dvd.
The receiver plays the radio stations fine. At this time I only have 2 front speakers, center channel, and a amplified subwoofer.
The recevier is from 1994 so definitely no high tech connections besides a digital optical connection
Thanks for any help!

Check to see if your receiver has "digital" and "analog" options for input. Many older receivers have this feature, optical would be digital using the receivers D/A converter, but RCAs are analog, thats what you need. Also check to make sure your screen has its outputs turned on, should be a on, fixed, or variable option in setup.

Oh yeah. I said run optical from the tv and you can, but you should just run the optical from the blue-ray player to the receiver.
