Default Help with G3 Prelude head swap B20A vs B20A5

Hi gang,

New kid on the block here. (actually new old guy on the block)

I have a 1991 Prelude S 5 speed that has all 8 exhaust valves bent (due to camshaft sprocket failure) and I have 2 donor cars to choose from for a replacement head. I don't want to spedn the money to get new guides etc done on the originnal, I just want to get driving again.

So my question is, and I'm quite confused on this, which head should I use?

Here is the breakdown and details on engines, heads, cc's and block casting #'s.

My original car S, 5 speed with toasted exhaust valves
1991 B20A5, head stamped PK2 and 1958 cc as listed on the hood sticker

Red donor car Si, ALB, automatic
1991 B20A, head stamped PK2A and 2056 cc listed on the hood sticker

White donor car Si, 5 speed
1990 B20A, head stamped PK2Y and listed as 2056 cc on the hood sticker

Yes, I'm confused... The WIKI database for engines, heads etc give conflicting data with the actual cars I have here. I also thought the 2056cc engine was considered a 2.1L and a B21A1, but these are all stamped B20A or B20A5/ Help

My biggest concern is, are all 3 heads the same or are the chambers different sizes? Which head should I use? I don't want to drop compression ratio with the B21A1 head which I think is 55cc?? rather than my B20A5 head which is 47cc?

I would like to keep the red car running so I can run it around the yard as I pull body parts from it over the period of 6 months or so, however, the white car is the 5 speed and the body is toast on it, including undercarriage etc. I just want to use the right head.

Cheers

Paul
