Yea dealers rec. 3,750 miles for oil change intervals. When I do my oil change I reset my trip odo to see how many miles it takes to reach 15%. I am at about 4.5-5k miles and I am at 30%.
Now that I think about it our dealer also adds 5,000 to your current miles for your next oil change
Some people prefer 3,750 miles or 3 month oil change intervals.

5000 miles is the range I'm coming up on right now. I currently have 48xx miles and am at 20%. Your oil life with vary with a myriad of variables. With that being said, 8300 makes sense.

just follow the Owner's Manual whcih says the 1st oil change (and all oil changes) need to be done when the oil life gauge says it's at 15%.....but, it's your car though homie, do as you please
i mean, my Si Coupe just hit a little bit passed 2,000 miles on the odometer, and my oil life is still @ 60%....i'm going until 15% no matter what the odometer says (just for the first oil change)

Same here. I usually run 5k on M1 with a Hamp Filter.

Your car is under manufacturer's warranty. Read and follow the recomendations in the manual to protect the warranty coverage. After that, do what you want.
Your Honda dealer is NOT Honda. The dealer is simply a franchise that sells the product and any claims or recomendations beyond what Honda states is purely the dealer's opinion, and mostly to increase profits.

I've take my car on two road trips on this oil stint but had some "highway fun" on one of those trips, although it did cost me 20% oil life in one weekend.

If your vehicle has the maintenance minder system, then what your dealer puts on a sticker on your windshield is absolutely irrelevant in regards to when your oil should be changed.
For a technician to place a sticker on the windshield of a vehicle that has the maintenance minder system completely negates the purpose of the maintenance minder system.
If anything, the dealer likely has some ridiculous policy to place the sticker with 3k or 5k oil change intervals just to make money.
Think of it this way.
If the average maintenance minder oil change interval is 6k-7k miles (hypothetically), then the dealership loses money when compared to 3k or 5k oil change intervals. At 3k "sticker" intervals versus 6k maintenace minder intervals, it's a 2:1 ratio. Imagine a dealership performing 6,000 oil changes a year versus 3,000 a year. You can see the difference the sticker would make for the dealership.

I have discussed this with many of my friends and people at dealerships from Honda and ford they all say that the maintance minder system is ok to follow if you are driving your car normal or easy. If you drive short stop and go to, areas with extreme temp. swings or like my area with blowing dust/dirty air. They say to go no further than 3750miles on conventional oil, or 5000 miles on synthetic. If I go more than 3750miles on my car the oil is very dark. it all up to how confident you are in the oil and filter system. I lean to the old school way of doing things and change it every 3k. I feel oil breaks down and past 3k with not easy driving is very bad on the oil.
