DA exhaust systems
I currently have a 92 integra and when I bought it, it had/still has a cheap ebay system that i'd rather take off and run header downpipe and cat only haha.. I was wondering what I can do to get a deep sound? Also what would be the difference between going to a shop and having tem redo the piping in a lager size and adding an aftermarket muffler?
ive got a 91 and 90 da and wat i did was i buy the mandual bent cat back pipeing from summit racing and i had a 5zegain tip the piping was 2 1/4 inch or maybe 2 1/2 idk but ne ways i took my cat back kit in and the tip to the shop and had him weld it up he made a piece of pipie that could bolt up where the cat goes so i could just put the cat in and out as i pleased ive never heard a louded or deeper da ever hope thiis helps and it add 17 hp but my motor and head where built

Hey c_boe_2000 how much did that piping and muffler cost you? And is that your teg in the pic? Thanks for the info guys!

my old da had a nice sound that was deep. I had a glasspack where the cat was, with full 2.5" piping, then to a hks muffler. you can also use the hks highpower full exhaust, and put a resonator or glasspack where the cat was.

Thanks for responding.. so where did you get the piping from? im having a hard time finding a cat back system for a 92 DA and I want to use like a hks hi power muffler or n1 style muffler.. I don't know if going to a muffler shop and asking for 2.25 piping and buying a muffler and having them weld it on is a good idea or not and I do know to make sure they mandrel bend it.. Any suggestions?
Go look through the yellow pages for your area. look into the muffler shops that carry mandrel bending systems. They aren't difficult to use, you just need to have an experienced pipe bender who can do the job right. And in about an hour or two you'll have yourself a nice exhaust system in place. Ask them to make a flange(extra cost) so that you can put a stock or other muffler in its place if you decide to change out your JDM oneor sell your car. Go with 2.25" or 2.5" at the most for pipe diameter. Never use Magnaflow, Bullit or Dynomax...they make a nice deep sound but you'll get tire of it. for standard aftermarket, look for Bosal they make a nicer sound. Or their are the nicer JDM ones that are recommended above. Remember you can place a glass pack on but they do get heavy depending on how much exhaust sound you want to cutback on. I would almost recommend keeping the stock resonator on their or ask about a better aftermarket one. I did have a Magnaflow resonator and it worked great.

Typically, a deep sound is difficult from a small displacement 4 banger.
What I did to get a very deep burble (non-Honda, but principle is the same) is use a rather oversized header collector (3" for a 1.5 liter), run that huge piping to an oversized cat (3" in, 2" out), to a 14" glasspack (straight through "muffler"), split that (to 1.5" piping) to a pair of 12" glasspacks, then run each side to a pair of Monza "resonator" tip (more glasspacks).
The oversized exhaust piping acts like an echo chamber, and the glasspacks don't muffle low frequencies. I can't pull into parking structures without setting off every single car alarm. Its not just volume (though it is very loud), its low enough that it rattles windows.
Of course, I though it was damn cool when I was 16. These days, I can't believe how loud I wanted it back then.

im really jus trying to get rid of this raspy sounding exhaust I hav now.. My 90 prelude was loud and that's kind of what im looking for with this.. It was fun and looked better than this cheap jdm thing on my teg
ok well on my buddys da he had a full skunk2 cat bak with test pipe and it sounded really good but it was a little loud. And on my db i went to a local Shop and had them do a custom cat bak with no muffler and a magnaflow high flow cat. it is really really loud but it sounds so good to me.
felix, there is no custom piping involved as the catback system is a direct bolt-on. You won't regret going with this exhaust. It has a nice, deep tone to it and really screams at WOT.
hey lacking vtec where did you get your cat back system from and how much? i've been looking for bolt on cat back systems and have had no luck so I thought maybe people got universal mufflers and get custom tubbing from muffler shops.. also do you have any pics?
where did yur buddy get his skunk 2 system and how much and can you find any pics of his thanks!

you can get it from a few places but it looked good he got his from andysautosport.com but i also know a lot of people that got a univirsal muffler and had a muffler shop make some custom stuff thats what i did just with out the muffler.
There are a couple cat back systems on this page for DA's http://www.turboimport.com/catalog/integra_da.htm I
have the RS*R ExMag, it has a nice tone but not too loud.

yeah the hi power is a great system, the reason for it not sounding like the typically can was because of the dual resonators it had. although it did get old after about a year and i found a deal on a trust axle back. mounted that up and it was the perfect.
