Default lacking power from stop to 3 grand

just wondering if anyone else has this problem
engine is a b18b1 in a 95 ls integra

my problem is when i take off from a light it seems the engine is strugiling up till about 3 grand and then it just shoots off like a bat out of hell

ive adjusted timing and adjusted fuel pressuer and cant figuer it out

im wondering if its bad plug wires or something causing a ignition break momentairly

also i have a 4to 1 headder with a flat runner in one pipe and wondering if that could cause a problem too

My gas mileage kind of sucks actually.. I drove from westerville to marion raceway which is a 47.5 mi drive and was at almost half a tank or less I only did a couple runs down the strip but still? Mods include ebay headers downpipe hi flo cat and exhaust cold air intake.

Two things;

1. No power before 3000-ish RPM? SURPRISE! That's because you're driving a Honda. Rev it!

2. Unless we've got some extensive work done, face it...we don't take off like a bat out of hell, our little b18 is innately slow. Beats any domestic commuter though doesn't it!

I think it's the lack of a thing called....torque
Something that doesn't exist in a honda, lol.

no cause i have a 92 integra also with a b18a and it takes off the way it seems it should

its not a lack of torque

its like trying to take off with only 3 cylinders working and at 3 grand the 4th kicks in and it runs fine

i mean for christ sake i got beet off the line by a geo storm
but as soon as i hit 3300 i shot by him with the quickness

i get this problem also, in my 95 ls, execpt, i dont get anything until 4 grand, but when its cold and idles at 2 grand or 1.5 cause the cold start's up, then its fine, but now, it barley gets out of its own way, but the car was fine a month ago, i've only added an N1 cat back, test pipe, and short ram intake, my O2 is fine, i get good gas mileage, i dont get any smoke, only in the mornings (white, condensation in exhaust pipe, and a tiney bit of coolant), i checked my IAC, did a valve adjustment, ect. if you find whats causeing this, lemmie know

Sounds like an ignition problem, my civic did that right before my ignition coil took a crap on me and left me stranded in 110 degree weather. From a stop, the car would take forever just to get rolling. I mean, its like I wasn't even pressing the gas and was just letting off the clutch until I reved up. It was like there was no power at all, but as soon as I reved it past 3500 or so rpm the car would accelerate like as if I was launching from 3500 rpm, just like you guys are saying.

cap and rotor. either clean em or buy new ones. would explain the lack of power down low and the bad gas mileage.

Swap your ignition coil, honda coils are notorious for going bad.

I would almost bet money on retared igntion timing. First if you don't mind, explain how you are setting your timing, and we might be able to tell you something you are doing wrong.

If you ran Seafoam through your whole fuel system (by putting it in your tank), your filter is most likely clogged...

Try changed your fuel filter, to me, it almost sounds like it's choking itself of fuel...

Do not use wd40, use THROTTLE BODY CLEANER, or even Starting Fluid works well.

first off my cam timing and everything is dead on
dizzy is advanced a little
after i advanced it it seemed like it went away
changed the coil and still does the same thing
changed plugs and wires and cap and rotor and same thing
and i had a buddy watch the tach and he said it was about 4 when it kicks in
its weird

and i havent checked the iacv yet

but would changing the throttle body give me anything or should i just leave it alone
