Are you following the correct procedure for putting it on?

Do you have a helms or a service manual available?

I usually start with the cam gears first, then the water pump > tensioner > crank pulley and then adjust the slack with the tensioner. There shouldnt be a lot of slack on the front of the belt, just some slack on the back side though.

Proper installation procedure is crank pulley > tensioner > water pump > exhaust cam gear > intake cam gear. It is very important to end with the intake cam gear. That way you can stretch the belt tight between the exhaust cam gear and crank sprocket, then let the tensioner loosen when putting it over the intake cam gear. If you put it over the exhaust cam gear last, you will almost always end up with too much slack and your timing will be 1-2 teeth off.

do not, I repeat, DO NOT drive the car with a lose timing belt, do not even run the motor. You risk blowing your motor. PM me your phone number, I'm in fresno monday through friday.

I SEE. i see. i have mitchell on demand 5 but it doesnt really have pics to show how to install the timing belt correct.....

if i recall. to adjust the crankshaft pully to 0 or what every you called it. there a mark like next to the crankshaft pully ( look something like this --- ) i would line it up where you put the pin for the crankshaft pulley. . is that correct?

The crank should be set to TDC before you start. Your cam gears should also be aligned.

When I did mine, I bought all new parts. Almost every piece involved was new. Don't want to worry about that **** breaking when you got 300+ WHP
