Default The great GE vs. Cometic Debate

Hey guys,

I am in need of an 84mm pr4 headgasket for my build. I am stuck between a GE and cometic HG. Both are the same price, both take the same time to get, both have been helpful on the phone. I have seen a few threads and know a few people who have had awful luck with their Cometics, but I have never had an issue.

So my question is, has anyone ever had, or heard of an issues with a GE OEM bored HG? I havent been able to find any, but I really don't like the idea of the gasket being bored/ the fire ring getting cut into.

Just looking for some real life experience with the GE piece.

Thanks.

We use the GE gaskets on B-series race motors all the time, they work just fine..

Cometic wasted our time when we wanted 88mm gaskets for the new K24 blocks, and GE stepped up to make them, so I know who I'll stick with..

i hear more bad than good with cometic gaskets. and you hardly hear any problems with oem or GE modified oem gaskets when properly installed.

I'm using a GE gasket right now. so far so good. also the fire ring does not get cut out when going to 84mm.
