My idle rev is acting pretty weird on the 1999 Accord V6.
We're talking about a J30A1. I start the car up and it's at 1000 instead of the usual 750. I shift to D or R and then it goes down to 750? What the hell?
That's not even the biggest issue. You know after you stop at a redlight and you have been there for a little while the engine automatically tones down on revolutions? The car's doing it weird. It may be at 750, foot on the brakes, and it goes down to like 500 and then goes back up to like 700 and the car shakes for a second.
How can I solve this issue? It's bad enough that the transmission is bad by nature.
Quicky. What's your opinion on K&N oil filters?
EDIT: You guys here give it a name. I think you guys call it "idle surge" or "idle surging".

I'd grab a can of carburetor cleaner and clean out both the Throttle Body and the Idle Air Control Motor (Valve).
The IAC may be "hunting" or the Throttle Butterfly may be closed off (too much) from PCV crud buildup.
Give that a try B4 you start throwing money at it.

my car idles weird too, from about 300-600 i believe. i already cleaned the throttle body but dont know where the iacv is at.
All of my hondas have done that, idle high at first then drop down when you shift into gear. Is then engine cold when you start the car and experience this?
The car may need to be left on for a minute or two to give it a chance to warm up.

when it is cold it would idle at 900 or 1100. after its warm it would drop about 300 its kinda random where it idles when its warmed up
