ok did a search but no help really. Starting problem 92 LX replaced motor.
Ok I bought this car some time ago with a blown motor. I finally got around to buying a motor and put it in over the past two days. I go out today to try an initial firing and nothing. Cranks fine, just no start.
All compression is 140-142.
Plugs are old but should still fire fine. I watched the engine run before I bought it.
Getting fuel as I saw it spurting out the plug holes with compression check.
The Exhaust manifold does get warm after several attempts at starting, and I can hear the compression from the spark. Also did the grounded plug to verify.
The only thing that the person I bought the engine from did not include was the dizzy. So I am about convinced it is a simple thing of getting the dizzy in time.
I do not know alot about these cars put the timing marks are on the torque converter right? or sighted through that rubber plug on the trans?

is there anywhere where I can put the distrib timing wise to get it to start? kinda shooting in the dark here... looking for some help...
I mean it seriously cannot absolutely need to be in a particular position just to start right?
What else could be causing this problem?

well actually turns out that all the diagrams for the plug orders were wrong. Namely where #1 should go. All the ones I found online turns out were wrong, or very poorly drawn. Went to a parts store and looked it up there. It fired right up after I got home and changed the wire locations.
