Does your sunroof do this?
idk aboiut my sunroof ever doing that but the sunroof does jump up a bit to let the air out of the car when the doors close.. if the air didnt excape anywhere your doors wouldnt shut! but yeah somethign is wrong there, check maybe umm does the sunroof close at all? or is it open all the time like that because if its open all the time then you have somethign wrong with the brackets maybe there too tight. Maybe they need to lubbed up a bit.
The roof will close but pops back up half the time once I close the door.
I can even push the drivers side up in the position shown from inside the car with my hand. Sometimes it sticks into the up position as shown and other times it will drop back down.

Seriously, try taking the panel off and cleaning the rails and cables then lubing everything that moves or has something moving against it with white lithium grease, then put it back together, it will work much better and should quit having this problem. When I bought my last CRX it wouldn't close, it always looked like yours unless opened, and I cleaned everything then lubed it and the problem went away. Good luck. Oh you need to take out your headliner too, that way you can adjust it if necessary and it makes getting to everything easier.

At this point I have taken the pannel off from the top and lubed everything up. The problem however still exists.
Guess I may have to take the whole thing out (from the bottom up) next time and see if something is loose or broken in the areas I could not get to with just the panel off.
Thanks

How so, that the biggest problem with the Si. It leaks, it squeaks, it rattles, it also pops open when you close your doors. Hence the making of this thread. Not to mention it is heavy. They should of just put glass roofs in our Si CRXes. That would of been way cooler, lighter, and not squeak, leak, or rattle.
To the OP. The condition you are experiencing is normal. Usually it pops up both sides, the other one must be sticking. I've seen it on many crxes, and on many other sunroof equipped vehicles. If you want to fix it, weld in a HF roof.

i have the same problem with my sunroof. i found out that the actual cable that pulls the roof open and close [not the motor] is broken.
item #14:

my passenger side is the one that pops open, only when i shut my trunk/hatch.
im planning on also rebuilding my whole roof assembly when its not raining out.

A broken cable makes sense or a loose cable in need of tightening. I not sure by looking at the diagram if there is some type of tensioner that needs adjusted.
So what parts are you picking up to rebuild the roof assembly? Only item #14? There are quite a few little parts in the diagram. Are you buying new parts?
Thanks

Yes I agree Bart, but sunroofs are cool and a luxury on a little car like a Rex. It worked great for EF hatch's so why not put glass on the rex? I dunno maybe they thought the roof had too little structural rigidity to sustain a piece of glass, but I'm happy with the metal one since that's all we got here in the states.

And yes a broken cable would cause this... it's worth checking out!

i had nothing but problems with my sunroof. mine did the same, but both sides would stick up and it wouldnt go down at all. plus rust, bad design
im not ordering new parts. im simply putting two sunroofs together to make a working one. i have one that has a hard time opening and one that doesnt close all the way. ill probably do a diy also. my back up plan if it still doesnt fix my problem, im just gonna get a cf block off.
sunroofs having a hard time opening could be caused by:
-weather stripping getting stuck between the sunroof and the actual roof.
-motor not working properly.
-switch not working properly.
-tracks rusted or something related.
-etc.
the item #14 is a solid cable i think, the same type of cable from a climate control.
to it pulls the roof open and pushes it to close.
