Special tool ?????

What's the secret to unplugging the engine bay plugs from the firewall.
These things are crazy glued or something ?
Am I missing a special tool from my box ?

push, squeeze, pull

push them in, squeeze the clip, pull hard

Any place the plugs are clipped to a metal bracket, such as the shock tower plugs you need to get them off the bracket first.
