Default Ram horn or Top mount for a DD???

ok,

i have a 81.5mm b16 that i am building and i plan on pushing 400-500whp, while daily driving this bad boy, what do you guys reccomend for a manifold a ram horn or top mount? turbo is a garrett t3/60-1 .63ar turbine, and the turbo kit will be AFI.

At this point, its not going to matter too much. You could easily use a ramhorn and have great success with it. It really comes down to the design of the manifold. The ram will flow more than enough for your goals, but it has shorter runners which will cut spool time down a bit. The topmount makes for easy turbocharger maintenance and generally better overall flow (top end), but since the runners are a longer, it will increase the amount of lag. I have a good comparison between a mini-ram and topmount if you're interested in seeing that for a reference...

what kind of manifold are you using? i personally love the way top mounts look, thats why i want one, but at the same time i think K.I.S.S, and function over form

if your sticking with your hp goals i would say the ram horn would be just fine.

if you got the cash for a top mount why not, looks baller, easier turbo maintenence, fit a fatty downpipe.

The blue line is the SLS Mini-ram and the red is the topmount. The setup is the same in both cases and the boost pressure is 10.5psi for the miniram while the topmount is at ~10-10.2psi.

I've possibaly had every manifold setup except mini ram. I prefer ram horn over top mount. I run Rev hard cast manifold on my street setup and make nice power. see sig
