OK, I searched and found nothing of use.
I've basically decided that I've had enough now of a "compromise" road and track car, it's going to be a track car.
As such, the OE Recaros (although great), aren't the same as a fixed back side mounted bucket.
Now, I've been looking at the Recaro Profi SPG. I know some people on here have them, what kind of prices are they in the U.S., are there any sponsors/dealers that do them? What kind of weight difference is there between the FRP and Carbon Kevlar?
Any other recommendations? Bear in mind I don't want any **** for the sake of saving a little bit of money, I'm not minted but I want something good quality.

No, I haven't sat in either. What's the difference between the SPG and the Pole Position?
A pair of SPG's over here without side mounts is about $1,500

SPG = my size
Pole position = more you sized.
The SPG is a bit smaller/tighter in the waist area. I think you'd be more comfortable in the pole positions.

I've been thinking along the same lines. Either an R theft recovery shell or one of these...

The PROFI SPG is a much more aggressive seat, made with better, lighter materials. The Pole Position is Recaro's entry-level fixed bucket, although a fantastic seat. The Pole Position is also a bit larger than the PROFI SPG. If you're a slimmer type of dude, the PROFI SPG will fit you a bit better.
In the states, a great shop for anything Recaro is http://www.speedwaremotorsports.com
FYI, the PROFI SPG goes for $799 each, plus brackets and rails. They weigh about 14 lbs each in fiberglass. The SPG was not available in carbon kevlar (the PROFI SPA is, at a cost of $2300 each, plus brackets and rails).

You should see the PROFI SPA .... 8.8lbs each in carbon/kevlar. Easy way to knock 50+ lbs off

Are you stuck on Recaro's Tart? My S1 seat weighs in the neighborhood of 12lbs if you are looking to drop some weight and it doesnt cost too much more than what prices are listed.

I'm not *stuck* on Recaro's, I would have just liked them. They're a very good quality seat and I've never heard of problems with them. What are S1's?

Thank you. There wouldn't be a cost saving for me if they were that much, I'd need them to be cheaper for there to be a benefit over getting them from here.
I'd like to save as much weight as is financially feasible. Then eventually get rid of the rest of my interior also.

The Mugen S1 is a beautiful seat, but it'll cost him on average about $400 more for the set, plus (absolutely no offense), the SPG is a much better bucket. Recaro makes the undisputed best seats in the world.
With the S1, are the Mugen rails proprietary equipment? They are extremely pricey.
Once again, the fit will be the determining factor ...

Thats debate-able. I am no seat expert but I have never felt a seat that offered greater feedback than the S1.

There IS a large grey area of subjectibility with regards to choosing the right seat, however in terms of build quality, materials, fabrics, design, and comfort, Recaro seats are unrivaled in the industry. This is why they were chosen for all of Honda's performance vehicles, as well as all the top sports car manufacturers on the globe.
Having done extensive research, and having sat in or had track time with the entire model lineup by Recaro, Sparco, Bride, Corbeau, Buddy Club, Mugen, Spoon, and a few custom seats, I completely understand why you are so attached to the S1 ... it has an almost telepathic feedback. However, when you park yourself in a seat like the SPA, at almost triple the price, your outlook becomes very different. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Recaro contracted a chiropractor to design the back section. It's simply magic.
Anyways, it is subjective ....

Geoff, I loved my of Profi SPGs. I only sold them to fund the R project. I may pick up another set here in the future when the money allows. For now I'm sticking with OEM for cost reasons.
I am more less writing this post to support your consideration for this seat.

deuce, thank you all for contributing.
hate to think how much lighter the SPA's or even the others would be than my OE Recaros, those things must be heavy!

Try your best to sit in a set of any your are looking to get.
If it waits until next year, sit in both the passenger and drivers seat of mine. SPG for me, Pole Position for passenger.
I've never sat in an S1 (unless Sean had one for a passenger seat and I didn't notice it) but both of my Recaro's are quite comfortable in regards to body posture.

My lower back is always sore these days and I drove 10hrs to VIR, zero complaints.
