Right now I have a cx with a z6 swap I have a cai and header running through the stock cx pipe and fartcan out back. No cat is on the car. Is it worth my dollar to get a "real" cat-back and test pipe or would the gains be so minimal that I should just keep it how it is?
get cat.. you need it to pass smog anyways and the fine is california without one is $2500... beleive me it doesnt make a difference with or without besides the sound.. get a high flow cat.. I brought my car to the shop to have one added and it feels the same..

Um no. No inspection in MN bro. Would need to get a whole new exhaust because the stock cx cat is just like the CRX hf cat. It's right on the exhaust manifold and has a downpipe off of the cat to the the stock cat-back. How it is now, the stock catback mates right up to the header that I'm running. If I 'm not going to see a real gain then I'm not going to bother changing anything.

well yeah for sohc the cat is on the header.. well if your not throwing any codes for it then I say leave it alone.. but if you have engine check lights then you need to replace it..

No, I think all the eg civics have the traditional cat locations(after the stock header and by the shifter) and the cx @ vx are the only egs that have the exhaust that way. The car runs great and I'm throwing no codes.
