I noticed that after about 3 months of having my R, when i shifted hard or launched pretty hard the glove box fly's open , i heard its cause acura didn't reinforce it when they made the type R, one of the one things they missed i guess, who else has this problem and who knows how to fix it?

 

Mine doesn't fly open, but the light is always visible in it....

 

never had that problem, maybe you have too much stuff in it.

 

No problems with mine, locks pretty tight actually.

Acura will fix it for no charge next time you are in for service. Just let the service writer know about the problem.

 

I notice my glovebox light is on also when I start the beotch up. I just press it tight and it shuts off. So I am guessing the switch or whatever doo-hickie is in there is loose.

I think most hondas/acuras have glove box problems...always a crack open with light shining through...on my teg, friends accord and friends civic

 

I think you could fix that for under $10 bucks........

 

Yeah SandMracing do have a good fix, i tihnk i will use that....i don't have that light problem you guys are talkin about tho....

 

The light problem is caused by the latch not holding on the glovebox tight enough therefore causing the car to think that the glovebox is open. Just like how you can crack open the fridge and it will leave the light on even though the fridge looks closed.

The SandM racing method is very easy and only takes a few minutes.

 

I have huge *** glove box problems. I took it to acura to get it fixed and they didnt do ****!

 

Then do it the sandm wway! I bet it works.

 

My glove box always use to fly open when I would do a hard launch.... I emptied it and I no longer have a problem

 

my used to flop open everytime i shift hard from 1-2 gear.....or from 2-3 gear it would fall again, but i got it fixed at Acura.....

 

I fixed mine...

... with a rollcage.

Funny enough, I had the "glove box syndrome" with my Ls and PY but, for some strange reason NOT with my current R. Just lucky this time I guess.

locked or un locked, full or empty it still pops open with a hard launch.

 

My friend Stephen with a black 00 ITR was able to do it consistently on his and when he test drove an 01 he made the box drop and that car was brand new Strangely enough, with my insurance paperwork and owner's manual in my glove box, I have yet to drop mine *kabob knocks on wood*

 

Me too...

 

Mine is packed full of crap (Digital Camera, wrenches, paperwork, ****, etc...) and it has yet to pop open. Same with the 3yrs I owned my GSR.
