I've gotten to the point where I've got the brake disk and caliper off. What next? Do I undo the ball joint and pull the axle? THen what? I've got a 2000 Civic Si.
Hey, I have the same car and I'm fixing a broken wheel stud right now too. After taking off the disc and caliper, you have two choices. One, you can take off the knuckle and hub together, bring it to a shop with a press and tell them to change the studs for you. Or two, while the knuckle is still on the car, take a slide hammer and knock out the hub, hammer in the new studs, put the hub back on as best you can, then tighten it with the axle nut (air tools recommended for this step, but you can use a ratchet and a BFH
).
).
It's pretty simple. One end has holes which you attach to the studs. Then the rest of the tool is a shaft with a weight that slides up and down. Start with the weight close to the hub side, then ram it to the other side.

Ok...i'm gonna try to do this wednesday. Whats an easy way to get the ball joint to seat when i'm putting it back together? I know we had hell with it when we were trying to get it to go back in when we did my clutch.

I would've gotten a shop to do it for $20 but I was quoted $80 CDN to do it.
What do you mean get the ball join to seat? To get it into the knuckle or to get it into the lower control arm?
