Default OBD 1 engine into OBD2

My car spun a bearing and I've had this b18b1 obd1 engine in my garage. I do not have a Helms, however I do have a Haynes. Is there a write up to installing this engine? I tried searching but all I found was swaps into hatches...etc. Is this going to be fairly difficult?

Yeah I know the blocks are the same. That thread has too much misinformation lol. I need a list of the sensors/plugs and does the distributor need to be changed?

I believe you need a crank angle sensor, but there is a trick which allows you to jump it off of the cam sensor if I am correct. Other than that, just use your intake manifold, distributor, valve cover, alternator, and wiring harness off of your OBD2 car, and everything will work fine. What I usually do is set the two longblocks side by side and just transfer everything over. Good luck!

the only problem is the crank sensor, you are gonna have to use a obd1 distributor and get the signal out of the dizzy for the crank.

Thanks dudes. Today I prepped the engine to be pulled and successfully removed the axles...(thanks to H-T)

The only thing left is the clutch line and I wasn't sure how to unplug/remove that.

But other than that the engine is ready to be pulled.

Remove the two slave cylinder 12 MM bolts from the transmission, and the two 10 mm bolts that attach to the top transmission bracket that holds the clutch line fast to the transmission. Then you can just set the whole slave cylinder on the "passenger side frame rail. When you reinstall it you will not have to bleed it if you took it apart this way! Good luck!

if you dont want to do that crank sensor trick u can use your old oil pump that has the crank sensor on it. make sure u use your timing gear from the obd2 motor though. if your going to use that valve cover on a b18a you need to plug the pcv box on the back of the b18a block with a freeze plug. other than that you should be ok.

It is not an B18A. It is a B18b1 off of a 94-95 integra.

Alright. This OBD1 has this...The black box. Can someone let me know what it is. The OBD2 intake manifold does not have the port for the hose to hook up to.

My engine with the spun bearing does not have this.

I know it has to do with the PCV system...the OBD2 system goes from the intake to the valve cover...the OBD1 system goes from the intake to the PCV box.

Thats for the PCV system... It looks like the OBD2 engine has a plug where the black box connects to the block. Check in your helms on the PCV system and see how it's routed with the OBD2 engines.

It's yoru bible mang!!

Got the tranny off.

Swapped the intake manifold, distributor and power steering.

Fixed the pcv problem

Now I need to swap over the pulleys.

Looks alright other than I think you are going to need the PCV valve itself functional, not just a stright through hose to the black box...maybe some one else can verify. Good luck!

Yes you need to run a PCV valve between the intake manifold vacuum port and the black box.

Is there any place on the intake arm itself to run a hose to your valve cover?

Yeah but I'm using it to run the hose to the black box.
