Default ex/si transmission

There's a ex/si transmission i am looking to purchase, is there a way to find out what the transmission model is? is there a d16z6 or d16y8 engraving or a sticker? if so, where can it be located? also, is there a vin# on the transmission? thanks for any help.

idk how to tell them apart but they are the same exact tranny except the ex has a different final drive (ex. instead of cruising at 3200 rpms at like 75 mph, you will be at like 2800-3000 rpms at 75 mph)

yes look by the speed sensor plug on the tranny and you'll see a round circle, it should have p20-A000 or p20-B000 the p20-A000 is for the DX, CX, and VX. The p20-B000 will be for the the Ex/Si trannies.

First gear is the same across all D-series trannys. It probably feels shorter because of the Si's low final drive.
