Default 03-05 (7th gen) 6M/T V6 REVERSE pop out

I have a 6 speed with a comptech short shifter adapter. When i put it in reverse and go around 2.5-3 RPMs, the shifter pops out into neutral. I know it's not needed to go fast in reverse or high revs, but why does this happen? Even when i try to hold the shifter in reverse, it still pops.

I did recently get an oem tranny swap since my other one blew and oem clutch.

I have an idea. Don't drive 15 mph in reverse? Seriously I doubt I've ever hit 2000 rpms in reverse in any car. If I get close to 2000 the Civic trans starts screaming like it's going to blow; I HATE that high pitched sound some trannies make in reverse.

Edit: why would you want to modify the shifter? The shifters in these cars are already very short throws.

actually, there are times where you DO need to rev high in reverse. such as when you're stuck in snow or mud and you have to rock back and forth going in reverse and then forward repeatedly. trust me, i've gotten stuck in snow many times last winter and dat is what i did to get out. so yeh it's sometimes helpful, and i love that reverse tranny winding sound, it's the best sound. also, it's just a short shift adapter and yeh the stock is already close ratio but the short shifter makes it even better!! i wouldn't go back to stock !!

Before you start doubting the tranny you need to make 100% sure the short throw shifter isn't preventing the trans from going all the way into reverse.
