As the title states i'm looking to see if any other fellow HT'ers are going to the Nikon Indy 300 in Surfers Paradise this coming weekend or if anyone lives in Gold Coast that would like to show me around.

Since we don't have lots of sponsors and employees family members at this race it is possible I could come by some pit passes if anyone is going to be around. I'll post some pictures when I get them off the camera.

looks like helio got clearence from the judge to ba able to race out of the country....

 

He is here along with his car and crew, I saw him doing his track walk yesterday with his engineers.

I haven't managed to take many pictures yet. It has rained off and on so most of my time has been spent in the hotel room or a little engineering hut at the track. Here are some of what i've taken so far. Have definitely seen some amzaing women and they are not ashamed of their bodies at all.

Awesome! I'd do one 0' those CTRs in CW (with the light bar flashing) as a DD.
Meybe those fooz in the left lane would move their asses over before I have to lift skinny.

Those are F3s, not F3000s.

As a comparison, the Lola-Fords did about a 1:32 in 2006. The Panoz-Cosworths did about a 1:30 in 2007. The Dallara-Hondas are in the 1:34 range. Not sure if there have been any track changes from 2006 to 2008.

I think the track has been pretty much the same since at least 2001 and your right those are F3 not 3000 my bad.

 

I'm curious about team travel. Do you guys travel as a team? Or is everyone split up on different flights? Do some guys travel on the same plane as the cars they work on? Do Customs inspect the cars? (I seem to remember reading about rumors back in the day on how F1 cars were claimed to be used to smuggle drugs!)

The cars and all of our equipment left Indy on October 14th and arrived in Australia on the 20th. Everything came over on two 777's that had to stop three times from Indy to Brisbane to refuel. All of the crew members and IRL staff left Indy on one 747 on the 19th and arrived in Brisbane on the 21. Even when we travel within the states most always all of our team is on the same plane. Some of the ownerships like Chip Ganassi and Penske have their own plane they use withine the states. Races within the states the cars travel in the transporters. I imagine there is some kind of customs inspections when we ship our cars and equipment internationally and even when we go to Canada to race the imigrations officers want to see the cars but no thorough inspection is done that i'm aware of.
