Default slight knock on start-up

I have a b16a1 and all of a sudden while i was out today, i got back to my car and when i started it up and it made a slight knock and the maintinence light came on for a second but went off and the car runs and sounds the same as usual im just concerned about the knock when i start it up. any ideas on what could be the cause of this problem?

I have the same thing, wouldn't be terribly worried if I were you. The maintenance light has absolutely nothing to do with this by the way. Do you have a CEL?

my oil is fine and its really clean. i was a little desperate and got some wawa unleaded gas and then filled it with premium from shell and it hadnt done that until i had put it in. but the noise did stop eventually. do you think that the switch from regular to premium was what caused it?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't that motor be running 91 octane?

Yes, your motor will ping like crazy if you put in lower, especially under heavy loads.

LOL. I kept thinking you guys were spelling something wrong (wawa) so I looked it up. First thing off the front page:
