Default Tank size

Whats the gas tank size on a USDM 97 Civic DX coupe? I'm curious because I am unable to figure out my gas mileage without running it to the ground.

easiest way to find out fuel mileage is to reset your trip odometer when you fill up, then the next time you fill up, divide the number of miles on the odometer by the number of gallons you filled up with (on your receipt)

11.9 or 12.9 I think (gallons)

do as camero says - fill up all the way, reset trip meter, and next time you get gas fill up all the way again (try to use same pump and station) then do the division.

I get ~ 31 city 1.6 y8 stock

All '96-'00 Civics have 11.9 gallon tanks.

IIRC, all '92-'95 Civics have 11.9 except for (I think) the CX and VX, which have 10 gallon tanks.

That has nothing to do with finding out your fuel economy though.

You can figure out the gas mileage this way. The size of your tank has nothing to do with your fuel economy (save for the weight of a larger tank, but anyway...).

1 - Fill your tank ALL the way up. Reset your tripometer before you leave the gas station.

2 - Drive.

3 - Whenever you decide to get gas next (it does NOT have to be on E), fill the tank ALL the way up again.

4 - Have the pump print the receipt for you. Write the mileage from the tripometer on the receipt.

5 - Rest your tripometer before you leave the gas station.

6 - Drive.

Whenever you get a chance (even at the gas station), do this:

MILES DRIVEN / GALLONS USED = GAS MILEAGE

So if you drove 320 miles and used 9.5 gallons:

320 / 9.5 = 33.68 mpg

Remember, this information will be on the pump and/or receipt and on the tripometer.

You can also keep track of this on gassavers.org
