Steering Wheel Shakes, have searched until my eyes bled
Here's the issue: wheel started shaking a few months ago, gradually got worse, I finally started to fix the problem. Did both axles, both outer tie rod ends, balanced and rotated tires, and did an alignment.
The shaking got much better but it is still there, and is driving me fuc[/B][/b]king insane!
While cruising at around 35-60mph if I gently move the wheel about a quarter of an inch to the left/right, I can feel a slight shake in the wheel. Sometimes at speeds over 65mph it is a steady left to right shake.
Just looking for ideas. The car is an EJ8. Looking for something that I might be missing. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, HT.

You have either a bent wheel, a bent hub, or a broken tire belt. I've also had a bad power steering rack give me a similar feel, but that's less likely.
Did you have the brake rotors off the car at all immediately prior to the start of the shimmy?

When I had my wheels balanced the machine said they were perfect. Thing is, the shake got worse before I did all the previously mentioned work. Tires have less than 10k miles on them and they are in perfect condition. How would I even get a bent hub? and the rotors/pads are really new and, no, they were not off of the car before the shimmy.

What machine was used, and did you personally see/operate it? Was it a road force balancer?
A machine is only as useful as the person running it. I've personally had to rebalance a number of wheels that I've been told were "recently balanced," because whoever touched them previously did a half-*** job.
Just because the tires physically look okay and have low mileage doesn't mean they won't cause a vibration. They are definitely a more likely culprit than the tie rods you replaced.
A hub can be bent by crashing into things.

The machine was a road force balancer (GSP9700). I will try to find someone out here that will let me try out some different rims/tires and see if that changes anything. Dumb question: is there any way to diagnose a bent hub?
The only other thing I can think of is that I have a bad wheel bearing or bushing somewhere up front. I do appreciate the info.

That does downplay the role of the wheels/tires then. The latest Hunter road force balancers are pretty good.

Always a good idea. I meant to suggest that in my original post but forgot to include it.

Runout can be checked with a dial gauge to determine if the hub is bent. I can't remember off the top of my head if the factory service manual has runout specs or not.

Are you getting any sort of humming or howling noises at higher speeds?

Not that I have really noticed. When I drive to work tomorrow I will see if I hear anything. The last month has been so frustrating with this issue.
Do you think it might be a bushing issue or maybe even a motor mount problem? I'm just going to replace every damn thing up front until I solve this problem. Either that, or I might just get rid of the car.

thats the best guess ive heard...
you just described a completely blown shock symptom.
i would take the shock out and check. both fronts.
