Default 93 civic auto wont shift

i have a 93 honda civic lx with a auto tranny. when i drive it, it just stays in one gear and thats the first gear, it wont shift or anything. any suggestions would be nice. could it be the tranny? one of the sensors? speed sensor maybe?

make sure you know how to check the fluid properly. You have to run the transmission through all the gears forward reverse neutral and park then shut it off and check it within one minute of being turned off. Also, after driving it a few miles the fluid should be checked again because it takes a while to work out all the air bubbles that are in the valve bodies in there and stuff. I didn't get the fluid level right on my wifes 93 DX for about a week after I had her tranny out. And it didn't start shifting completely correct and smooth until I had about 200 miles on it.
