Default Anti-squeal vs caliper pin lube

The counter man at a local parts house told me that I can use anti-squeal compound (used between pads and shims) to lube the caliper pins on the front of my CR-V. Doesn't the anti-squeal compoung set up partially, making it more of a bonding agent than a lubricant?

Don't use that man.

Use some type of bearing grease or Hi-temp grease or even use assembly lube(moly). I use bearing grease on mine.

Thanks for the quick reply. I've got some anti-sieze compound that I use on spark plug threads. I'll give that a try.

Anti-seize is not for that application and that is strongly not recommended for use on the sliders. A little on the bolt threads yes but just a little and never on the sliders or any moving part.

OK. Thanks, again, for the reply. I'll head for the parts store (a different one, this time) and get some hi-temp grease made for use on the slider pins. I'm glad I asked! I've got to do the front brakes on the front of my truck, next. I'll be ready for it, now.

That stuff for some reason is hard to find. Most AP stores don't have it, I have being looking for it myself.

I picked up a 4 oz. bottle of brake system lube that specifically states, on the bottle, that it's to be used on caliper slide pins (among other brake components). It has an application brush in the bottle. Thank you very much for the advice. I imagine that it saved me from having to do the job all over, again.
