NOOB Tryin to learn
So I was pretty into the import scene back in 96-00. I put everything away and now it's like i'm learning all over again. I recently picked up an 88 crx si with a JDM swap for my EF9 from somebody that had basically been used weekends only because it had no registration for years. The vehicle was liened upon from a body shop after a few years because the old owner couldn't afford to pay for the job. So i picked up the vehicle up north after compression testing it and it was a very healthy swap. The only thing that bugs me is that it is mounted to a b16 tranny and is functioning from an obd-0 pr3 ecu. I have a p72 ecu for the year of the motor which is obd-2a. I'm just a dummy with this but wouldn't I get a little better performance if I just finished off the swap by going hydro clutch and rewiring it back to it's normal ecu. All your comments would help me a lot.
His car is running an Obd2 motor b16a2 right? ( i dont think he mentioned what motor just said jdm). anyway I guess he is running a first generation cable b16 tranny wich is understandable as his crx is made to use cable trannys. His obd2 motor is running on obd-0 wiring. and wants to know if switching to hydro and obd-2 will give him more performace.
Honestly, the trannys will run the same. And the work to convert your car to hydro is not worth it IMO......my motor is obd2 running on obd-0 wring as well the performance is the same you just need to compensate for the ECU's lack of Vtec input....why mess with it if its not broken?
