engine sputter during accel
occasionally my engine (d16y7 with d16a6 intake mani) will sputter slightly during acceleration. It sounds like a slight misfire. Other than this, it idles smoothly and runs well. Could it be a timing issue? I'm pretty new to fuel injection and such, so excuse my lack of knowledge. I'm trying to educate myself as much as possible, but there are so many variables that it becomes hard to troubleshoot such a minor and intermittent problem.
No CEL
You're probably right about the plugs/wires - The wires I have now are looking pretty hag, and I pulled my plugs the other day to check em, and the gap was pretty ludicrous. I know my NOX emissions are really high from my emissions test - i.e. high cylinder temp roasting the plugs. However, it starts first crank every time...which leads me to believe I'm getting adequate spark. I'll check the compression and check the resistance of the wires to see if that's all good.

Dude. High NOX? High cyl Temp? Definitly running lean. I am 100% sure it is running lean. Check fuel filter, may have clogged injectors, maybe a fuel pressure regulator. A car thats running lean will overwork the ignition system. Correct the fuel delivery issue then check out ignition.
