Default FlywheelS, flywheels, FlywheelS

GUYS, I need some infromation, and I am hoping, after I searched through all the threads that I could and found out what info I could, that you guys might be able to help me out.
I am taking my car in for service, it needs a new clutch, some other transmission work and timing belt service. I am pretty much set on the clutch that i am going to get(exedy organic) but at the time that i do all this i want to throw in a lightened flywheel. Now I've talked to some friends in the industry and they have told me that the lighter the flywheel gets the more you will have to slip the clutch in order to get a smooth pull on the tarnsmission, now i think the stock flywheel in a GSR is around 20 pounds(cloud be more) or so, i have heard that the ITR flywheel is around fourteen fifteen pounds, and the aftermarket flywheels start around 8.5 and go up.
So here is where I need your guys feedback. I was planning on geting an EXEDY chromoly flywheel as well as the clutch, but it only weighs in at 10 pounds. I think for a daily driver that that is too light, are there any manufacturer's that make a lightened flywheel in the twelve and up range. I would prefer Chromoly because I am not a big fan of aluminum in a car that can rev up to 8500 rpm. OR if there are any folks out there that took their ITR flywheel out and are looking to unload it send me an im on aol(liveslifewell- my screenname). Any information would be greatly appreciated, the sooner the better because i am dropping my car off on Tuesday, which is tomorrow. Thanks again guys.

I have the TODA unit, very similar to the Exedy unit, and have had no problems. Did not have to change my driving style at all. Been driving it on the street and at the drag strip for over 30,000 miles.
Just had a friend put one in his S2000, and he agrees with me. If there is any difference in stop and go driving, then it is minimal...

where can i find a good price on the TODA unit, i can get the exedy package for $630 and for me that's about my limit maybe another 50 bones but more than likely if it isn't priced comparitively close o the exedy i think i'm gonna go with the exedy.

First of all, the stock GSR flywheel is more like 18lbs, the typeR is more like 14.5lbs and most aftermarket ones start at around 7lbs and go up(to about 10lbs). I have also been looking for a high quality FW with a weight a little less than the R but a little more than 9 or 10lbs. I will probably just go with the R FW as it will have the reliability that I am looking for with a bit more gain in performance. Otherwise I might want to go with a chromoly one from Comptech or Toda. Enjoy

The Exedy can be had cheaper than the TODA, hands down. I have yet to see a TODA sell for more than a few dollars less than list. Exedy, seems to give more room for dealers to work with. I know *** imports runs specials on both the Exedy clutch and flywheel at times.
Worth a try...

My 7.5 lb ClutchMasters flywheel gives me no drivability problems, as long as you know what you're doing with the clutch pedal and shifter. It revs like a champ now, too. The revs climb so fast, it's really amazing. I'm sure a heavier flywheel would yeild slightly better daily manners, but if you're confident in your ability at all, you should have no problem adjusting to a light flywheel.

Good luck with your choice.

Fidanza all the way...7lbs, probably the cheapest you'll find, and extremely high quality.

i switched up from an itr flywheel to a toda one. the difference is noticeable. it was not as noticeable when i went from stock to itr. make sense? a ~10 lb. flywheel is in my opinion an ideal weight.

I had both the JUN Ultralight (9.2lb) and Toda (9lb) and it doesn't effect your street driving whatsoever.

Clutchmasters makes Fidanza flywheels, so they're both the same.

Those of you with light flywheels, did it elp your ET's? If so, by how much?
