im looking into getting a new fuel pump but dont want to buy a new oem one. can i just install the walbro fuel pump with install kit into my car without modifications? can it be a daily driver even though its intended for hp over 500? i just need some help and tips. My car so far has full exhaust and intake just so you guys know. no injector upgrade or ecu hardware, car is a 1989 crx hf.
You can use it but it is WAY over kill. I would go with the stock one (if you plan on keeping your stock motor) or go with the 195lph if you have plans to swap later on. And welcome to H-T, you'll find out that on here the "Search" but is your only friend

hmm.:D sounds good. so by over kill does it mean killing my engine, killing my lines or just too much gas? i havent done this before cause i have never had a fuel pump die on me. i will be doing a swap but what kind of swap requires an upgraded pump. or how much power does my car have to be making in order to use such a high pressure pump?

I'm not sure if it will kill anything but its like shooting a fly with a shot gun. Unless you are planning on going boosted or something like that theres no reason to have a pump like that.

oh, ok so will a 195 lph pump work just fine for a car that will have bolt ons and such. im planning on building the block sooner or later. im planning on working on a d series block for power. either the d15 i got now or the sohc Zc my friend is selling to me.
Its not exactly "overkill", after all your fpr (fuel pressure regulator) should control how much fuel your engine gets regardless. I myself just bought a 255 lph walbro pump for my d15b vtec swap for my 88 civic hatch std.
When i swapped a z6 into my 90 sedan i encountered fuel pump problems and needed to install a new pump. Knowing that my ultimate goal was boost and knowing from experience (b16 boosted hatch) that an upgraded fuel pump is a must to maximize any boosted setup i chose to go with the 255. The question that you have to ask yourself is what are your future plans are performance wise? I have driven my z6 sedan with the 255 non boosted for a couple of months (I/H/E) with no ill effects, so yes you can do it but is it needed is what you need to answer.
it shouldnt hurt anything but there is no reason to put it in unless you are planning to modify the engine to make more power with turbo, supercharger, high compression ect
