Hey yall

i have a problem with my aftermarket sony deck after installing it worked fine. All of a sudden when i get back in the car the deck wont light up. I checked to see if it had power by putting in and taking out a cd it still comes out. I also checked the ground wire. Then i checked the fuses?

Does anyone have any ideas of what could cause this?

The deck should have a reset button, Sony is about the size of a ball point pin head, locate it and press it in. Sounds more like the radio lost switched power, it is the RED wire on the back of the unit. Constant power, or "BATTERY" is the yellow wire in the back of the unit, it needs 12V on the yellow and 12V on the red (when key is in ACC) to function. Also, some Sony units have a ATC fuse just behind the primary harness, make sure its good as well.

When you say it will not "light up", does that mean it still works but you get no "screen" or the unit no longer works, [except for CD load and eject]?

If you meant it no longer works, do you need to have the ign. on for the CD to load and eject or will it load and eject with the ign. off? 94

 

sometimes if you dont connect the face plate all the way it will retain power, but just wont display anything.
