tires and wheels questions
hey whats up all. im looking to change my wheel/tire setup. I have a 96 civic coupe. I thinking about goin to a 15 x 6.5 or 7.0 wheel with a 225/50r15 tire. For a drag radial should I go with 6.5 or 7.0 in the front. Also what type of setup should I use in the rear for a dd/track car. thank you
That tire size is MUCH too big for your car and will definitely rub. NOT recommended.
First of all, is your '96 a DX model, or an LX or EX? (Yes, it makes a difference.)
And when you ask about a dd/track car, are you really talking about using the tires at the track, or only on a dragstrip?

For your street tires, you definitely want to go with 195/55-15 or 205/50-15 tires, which can be mounted on 15x6, 15x6.5, or 15x7 wheels. There are a lot of inexpensive, used sets of 15x6 GS-R wheels out there that should fit.
If you're getting a separate pair of wheels/tires to use at the dragstrip, I don't know much about those tires, other than that you can get BFG drag radials in 205/50-15 and they will fit on the same size wheels (6.0-7.0 inch widths). I wouldn't recommend them for street use, though, due mostly to rapid treadwear.
