Trunk Lid
Could someone be kind enough and take some pictures from their trunk lid mechanism?
I specifically need pictures from the two metal pieces that interact with each under under the trunk lid to keep the lid up I believe. They are simply two round long bent metal pieces intertwined together via a plastic holder.
Everytime I lift up my trunk lid, they grind against each other and they did not use to do this. And now I noticed when the lid is closed, one of them rests ontop of my rear speaker.
It would be great if someone could open their trunk lid and take some pictures from undreneath the lid around the spear areas. I just need to know how they sit normally to check and see if something is not working correctly with mine.
Thank you.

Edit: I hope you meant a 4th gen. I didn't even think of that.

My bad I should've mentioned it's for a 5th Gen.
Thanks for going through the trouble and taking the pictures. It looks like the concept is the same, but the 5th Gen ones have more bends in them.

get trunk struts and take out the metal stock bar things and go to local auto place get struts(1 works fine) and install it from the back where the rear seats are and the bent square tube attached to the trunk lid

Well it looks like I found the problem. The beige plastic clip that holds the two pieces together at the middle and connects to the body of the car appears to be damaged, and upon further investigation, it looks like the hole that the clip sits in is damaged also...I don't understand how the metal body of the car got ripped like that.
I'm gonna order a new clip and try to get the metal rip back together with some JB Weld or something, and see if the clip will hold in spot instead of getting turned around everytime the trunk is closed.
Cheap design on Honda's part.

why dont you just fab up a strut holder and use a strut should work better, my problem is my aftermarket speakers, the magnets are to big, not allowing my cross members to function properly, so im trying to get a strut set-up fabbed.
To be honest, I just want to take the cheap way out. I don't want to spend the time or the effort to go with the sturt route. I already have another project car that needs my attention (and wallet).
I'm just annoyed by the metal pieces hitting the speakers everytime I close the trunk.

You need something that is about a foot long fully extended, 8 inches compressed. If you're going to use a single strut you need it to have a lot of pressure - maybe 80-90lbs. I used two 60lb springs and they practically open the trunk up themselves. If you can't find one at pepboys there are many resellers online that cater to RV's and custom applications that can give you any setup you want. I can't seem to find where I bought mine right now but I hope that helps.
