First post here, looks like a great site with vast member knowledge. I spent hrs here learning about my (first) 91 CRX over thea last few weeks and decided to join.

As mentioned, I own a 91 CRX, it has the seat belt mechanism in the door. I have purchased a replacement door and realized it does not have provisions for the seat belt in the door. I have seen CRXs with the 'B' pillar mounted seat belts, and I realized the mounting locations for rear mounted seat belts are on my chassis, so it looks like it can be done. I also noticed the doors I have
(door #1) appear to have a thicker rear door pillar as well as two rear hanger bolts that engage a support in the rear of the door jamb, the other style (door #2) does not.

So here is my question. What models have the rear mounted seat belts and what models have the door mounted seat belts? I would like to find a matching door and it would be nice to narrow the search.

All 88 models have pillar mounted seatbelts. Only other non 88 model to share that is 89 HF. 89~91 models have the annoying door mounted seatbelts. Also, the 90~91 doors have extra reinforcing beams or side-impact beams inside the door, making them heavier. I believe the seals between 88-89 & 90-91 models are slighlty different also, and you might not get that total sealing effect if not getting the right model.

 

If your looking to find a pillar mounted setup. maybe think about buying out of Canada. All of our model are the pillar mount style like Japan regardless of year.

Europe also has the pillar style. These are the newest panels i have for my car out of a 91 VT

 

i agree the canadian civics have pilar mounted belts...i have a 92 civic dx hatch that was made in canada(according to the sticker on the rad support) and i got luckfyand found my passenger side seat belt from a junkyard...you could check jdmshit.com and passwordjdm...im not a fan of password but they always find things im looking for

 

Look up the part you want at http://www.bkhondaparts.com . Then put the part # in at the top, hit return, and a list of models having it will come up.
