I have a audio systm in my car 08 ZX 75.1 kicker amp and one 12" L7 kicker. I know optima batteries come in Yellow top, Red top, and Blue top. Which color top am i sopposed to use because i have no clue what the differences are all i know is that pepboys has a optima battery (red top) for 169$ for my car. Feedback is appriciated THNX

What batt. you use will depend on a few things, starting with what it's primary "job" is.

I just want a battery that wont discharge fast when im playing music loud in the parking lot.
http://www.optima-batterien.eu....html
i was looking at the link above and it shows that they are both (red top and yellow top) 2 times better than a conventional battery, but then again the red top has the seconds 1, 2, 5, and 10 as the most powerful starting seconds and the yellow top has 1, 3, 5, and 10 as the most powerful starting seconds. Sad to say but i still dont know which one to get from those 2
.
They also have a bosch 730 cranking amps for 80 bucks, is the red top optima still better than that bosch (acid battery) battery??

I bought the red top optima and i love it! I could acually play my music loud without it cutting off when the base hits (this is when the car is on). My lights used to dim and now they dont which is a plus. It saved me from buying a capacitor and from doing the big 3 upgrade
since my lights dont dim and my music doesnt cut off i no longer need a capacitor?? the reason i ask is because a friend of mine stated that i still needed a capacitor and i told him Y if my music doesnt cut off anymore and he just kept insisting that i should get a capacitor.

A cap will supply short "bursts" of high current just when the amp needs it the most, EG; when bass note "hits", it will also take the load off the alt. and batt. and although it is another load for the alt. to charge, the positives outweigh the negatives.

Good luck with your battery. Hopefully your luck is better than mine.
I bought a red top when upgrading my alternator( 250 amp ) and underhood grounds. I rarely drove the truck I had it installed in, and had to regularly recharge if I needed to drive it. This persisted from about a month of owning the battery on.
I thought not driving the truck was the problem, as I did not listen to the stereo with the vehicle off, nor ran the air compressors with the truck off either. I started driving the truck a little more frequently, but the battery still seemed to die regularly. I added a battery tender( trickle charger ) so that I could plug it in a day before I planned on driving it.
I attempted to drive to a car show, and the red top actually started to expell a gas from the top. I had boiled an Optima battery. Replaced it with a Wal-Mart battery and never once had another problem.( no longer required the battery tender either ).
I never warranteed the battery because I had lost the receipt
. It is amazing how the parts store can still show warranty information for a radiator I bought 15 years ago, but magically the computer has no record of a 159.00( at the time ) battery purchase from about 3 months prior.
