I need suggestions for better Rotors!!
i currently drive a 99' honda civic EX 4 door sedan with stock rotors and i want to replace them with higher performance brake rotors that are either slotted, drilled, or both... im not happy with the stopping ability of my car so I wanted to improve it... I have brand new Hawk Performance Ferro-Carbon brakes and I want rotors to give me the best stopping power... any brands or suggestions to get me started??
Thank You!!
Thank You!!
Buy better tires!
If you can lock up the tires, or activate ABS (either of which is absurdly easy with stock brakes and tires), it ain't the brakes limiting your stopping ability, and "better" rotors won't provide anything.
Heck, I run Vatozone $16 blanks with Hawk HPS pads on track, including doing 130mph down the front straight of Willow Springs. Since I run Azenis, the brakes are more than sufficient, the tires fade faster than the brakes.

ya i already have to get new tires but the reason im asking is i've already had 3 problems with my brakes so im trying to just replace the whole system... the previous owner of this vehicle either didn't take care of it... or did some obscure to it
Like mentioned above you will see nice gains from good fluid and an upgraded pad.
Bling rotors are cool looking (I'm guilty of buying them) but when it comes down to performance they don't really have much to offer.

I totally agree that any other rotor but oem type (autozone) is overkill. You just don't need it. For the price of drilled and/or slotted rotors you can buy new rotors, hp+ pads, and run new brake fluid (super blue, motul). I run this exact setup on my integra race/time attack integra with no brake fade at all.
a buddy of mine is a part-time spec miata driver as well as other cars and he refuses to run anything than oem or brembo blanks with high performance pads. he bought stoptechs and warped them in a few weeks.
