Replacing the timing belt on a 95 accord v6.
I just did the timing belt and water pump on my 97 V6, I bought a kit that had everything I needed, timing belts, accessory belts, water pump. I used the Haynes Manual, and it was very accurate. It only took me about 3 hours to do everything. I went ahead and did the crank seal, cam seals. I've had my car for about 3 weeks now, going through it and tuning it up.
ok i have seen the kits before but wondering how simple of a task it is. I am decent with tools but i only have the basics (good socket set/wrenches etc..) Is it a difficult thing to do for someone with only adequite mechanical knowledge? and do you need any "special" tools for the job? thanks!
I had to use a homemade breaker bar(piece of pipe on the end of my 1/2" ratchet) to break the crank pulley bolt loose, and I borrowed a torque wrench to make sure everything was right, I don't want to mess it up. But it was easier and cheaper than going to the dealer ($995) and the local Honda Shop ($550) I paid around $200 for all the parts and my time. I would highly suggest a set of mechanix gloves, they saved my hands from being all cut up(going through the fender area you still may get some cuts on your arms) but if you ain't bleedin' you ain't working!
