car overheated, rad fluid leaking
alright... completely stock 91 civic dx, replaced radiator about a month ago, running no thermostat, everything is running fine. Driving home from school yesterday and car is running fine. I've gotten into the habit of checking the fluid temp gauge like its life or death. temp was fine. then out of nowhere it spikes up to 3/4 i pull over and it's still rising. I opened hood and hear the engine hissing and fluid is leaking out from under the distributor.... I also check radiator and fill it and it's practically half empty... luckily i was close to home so i filled it and made it home... anyone know what to make of it? i have all weekend to work on it..
may have blown the headgasket
cracked your head(worst case)
but you may have just ruptured one of the fluid lines from the head/block to the intake manifold/ throttle body
check those if its near the end just cut the bad part off and put it back on if its long enough

can i have possibly cracked the head like you said? i dont really push this car much and pulled over the minute i saw it over heating.... i'll check the hoses and hope for the best
that heater hose is under the dizzy, mine was worn out and sprung a leak. you need to pay attention to the smell, if it overheated, it had probably been leaking for a minute. and im the same way about eyeing the temp guage. blown head gaskets, turbo crx's, busted hoses, cracked radiators. it starts to make you watch the guage more than the damn road.
First off add coolant if needed. If you can, pressure check it....if not bring the car to normal operating temp and look for leaks. Could be blown head gasket or just a simple blown hose

best thing to do is just check everything over as thoroughly as you can, if the head gaskets blown your block is going to have a nice black coat of oil on it pretty soon.
if you dont beat on it it shouldnt be to bad.
i just wish my temp gauge would work. damn thing jumps around like a 5 year old on candy. lol
im still driving on my blown headgasket, but i dont have the money to fix it i have to get my b16 together.
upside down priorities ftw
