relay wiring, check my diagram

if i wanted, could i pull both 12v from the same place?

Yes that will work and is the "preferred" way to do it. However when i wired up my horn w/ momo steering wheel, i jumpered 86 and 87 to an inline fuse and then to the battery (like you mentioned above). My switch is in the 85 to ground circuit, that way i push the button and it grounds it energizing the relay. It doesnt pull that much current, neither do fogs, so its perfectly fine to do it this way. As long as you fuse it for protection you should be safe. Mine has worked perfectly!
12V from the same place is fine. Although you may want to use a larger gauge wire for the line that delivers 12V to the relay and then onto the fogs. A 15A fuse may be in order as well.
