my buddy was about to scrap a set of blades today, and then gave them to me for free. pretty sweet deal if you ask me. they are pretty beat up, but nothing a little sanding cant take care of. i was thinking about painting them black because when i sanded them down to the reg didn't look too nice, i experimented on one of the rims.
started with the worst looking one:

strip that paint off that rim NOW..!!! lol, blades are best when polished, where u been..??

 

you need to save them, painting them black is a temporary solution(I hope)
there is a clearcoat above the rim surface, aircraft paint remover will take care of that...
them you do some sanding

im from the south burbs too, throw me some cash and ill polish them to a mirror shine.... Ive got pictures and vouches if your interested.

 

Make use of free wheels and clean them up. Please dont paint them black, they look so junky. And they're not chrome, theyre aluminum and you should polish them for sure.
