17" Rims and rubbing?
I just picked up a set of 17" Volk wheels for my Integra, and I am experiencing some rubbing which seems to be coming from the fender well. Is this normal? My car is dropped approximately 1.5". Is it possible for my fenders to actually bend or crease in the metal from this? I have a JDM front end. If I got stiffer springs than what I have now will that help?
Thanks in advance everyone.

What you are hearing is the wheel hit the fender. Depending on how bad it hits it could crack the fiberglass. You say your car is dropped 1.5in. This should not be happening. If it only happens when you bounce then you know it is the springs. I would get stiffer springs.
yea cause my car is dropped on coilovers and shocks and its a 2.5 drop and when i hit dips in the road my fenders will rub against the tires. when i was dropped 1.5 i never had that problem so it may be the springs like stunner said
Same deal for me. I had about 1.75" down on front and rear w/ coilovers and OEM shocks, and never had a problem. Dropped down 2" front and rear, I had scrapage quite a bit in the front. Just got Neuspeed race springs and tociko blues in, and only scrape when I'm going 65+ mph on the freeway and when I turn into driveways. The stiffer springs and shocks definitely help, but I'm starting to get annoyed. I think I need a smaller rim/tire diameter, or just a narrower rim/tire....I'm running 205/40/17 tire, with (I think) 45 mm offset. But I can barely fit my fingers between the sidwall of the front tire and the edge of the plastic (in the fenderwell)...I hear from other people that taking out the splash guards in the fenderwells works..... any suggestions/ commments?

i am worried about taking my splash guards out because I am putting an aem cai in. And I am thinking of replacing my splash guards with a stock replacement. I wonder in there is an aftermarket set?
I have 17's with probably close to a 2 inch drop (see "my suspention is here" post in the FI Forum: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=221113) and they rub when turning all the way to the left or right... other than that its all fine.
Wierd! I'm down about 3" and don't rub at all....ever! Just for reference, when the wheels are straight (forward) the top of my tire tread is as high as the edge of the fender. Maybe you're rubbing because of you camber setting. I have a camber kit and my angles are at stock settings....maybe that's the key??????
Here's a pic...not the greatest (it's the one in the background)

nice ITR man....
I dont think you can possibly be lowered 3 inches. 3 inches will be so low that you will scrape on every speed bump you go over. if you are riding ona stock diameter tire, and you fender comes down to the top of your tire, I dont think thats having a drop of more than two inches...
then again, it would have beem smart if I actually measured my drop.

I have stock springs and shocks at 43k miles with 17's kosie k1 racing and I rub when theres more then 2 people in the car (or me and one HEAVY person) only rubs in the back when bouncing....
am I safe to assume its just the poor quality of used stock springs that are the culprit?

I'm on coilovers which have 4" of travel. The top setting is stock height and I am at about 1" from the bottom right now, so I would say that 3" is quite possible.....and no, I don't scrape on anything.
IF you still have problems with rubbing over time, you may want to consider ditching the 17" rollers. Going with a 16" wheel will eliminate any wheel rub. Of course that is a last resort. Make sure your camber, caster, and alignment is right.
I have the same problem but only when making turns. It didn't happen often until I moved up her to PA where the roads are more bumpier. I noticed that it rubs more often now when I make small turns even. For some reason, it occurs more when I'm making a left turn. The front left tire doesn't rub, just the front right one. Do you think it is the spring?
I also have ingalls polyurethane camber on my car and KYB AGX shocks. I am lowered with H&R Sport springs which supposedly lowers 1.75" in front and 1.5" in rear.

I had the same problems, only rubbed when turning the same direction, what its actually rubbing is the plastic under the fender, I got mine to go away just by adjusting the coil-overs until it sat just right, now I can only get it to rub if i hit a crazy bump while doing a sharp turn
but for anyone, if your tire only rubs when turning check under the fender and see if there are marks on the plastic because i'm pretty sure there will be. Better that than possible jarring lose of the fender or bumper, and it probably wont do any damage at all unless its rubbing hardcore. If you have coils-overs just play with it till you get it right.
I'm wondering if the width has something major to do with that
ANYONE WHO RUBS WHEN THEY TURN WHAT WIDTH ARE YOUR RIMS???
mine are 18x 7.5 I'm willing to bet most people who experience rubs during turns have a width of 7.5

So has anyone removed the plastic splash guards? I'm wondering if when the wheels scrape on the plastic, if it really impinges on the fender itself....or if it's just hitting plastic. It seems to me that the wheel can travel freely if the plastic isn't there....
