Default 88 to 90-91

ok i got 2 crxs i have a 90 hf but just for parts and a 88 hf. i just gutted the two cars and put the 90 black interior into the 88. i noticed that the intrument clusters are different one square and one round but have the same plugs. so i plug it in and when i turn it on the check engine light is always on, i cant tell the tempereture or how much gas i got and the rpms wont show. my question was do i have to wire something somewhere or just keep the 90 dash harnest on or wha

you need to change some of the wires for it to work correctly, this link has the pinouts for both clusters, http://crxcommunity.com/viewtopic.php?p=65118
