Default Its done!

The work I've been doing to the Accord is finally complete.

I re-did most of the car, got an H22, stripped out the whole interior, matted it, placed in my black carpet, dyed a lot of part black, wrapped a lot of parts with black microsuede, rsx front seats in black leather, rear Acura CL seat, MOMO tuner wheel all black with red stitching, arm rest in black microsuede with red stitching, e-brake boot in black with red stitching and a shift boot in black with red stitching.

I had all of the rust cut out and new metal welded in, had the car painted a custom red but similar to the stock color but with a lot of glass in it. It actually came out pretty nice. The car runs really well with the odd minor issue here and there, mostly little things concerning my auto up/down window regulators etc...

Along the build I picked up a Mugen front grill, power retractable mirrors, I did the rear drum to rotor swap, did a bunch of mods to the H22. There are probably 100 things that I have failed to mention that you might pick up in the photos, either way, its come out well. I'm gonna stop typing and give you guys/gals a nice set of pics to look at.

I bought this car in 1999 for 5k, it was pretty beat up and high mileage on it, however it ran and got me where I needed to go. It was stock when I bought it minus a set of white 16" ADR wheels and a drop.

They took out the stock F22 and were cleaning out the engine bay getting it ready to get the new motor in there. They did whatever wiring things they needed to do.

Here they're working on the internals of the motor, they added in a few select parts which we figured would end up being both cheaper and easier to do then later when the motor was physically in the car. They were also throwing on my pulleys and cam gears too.

Legal Speed Designs clutch and flywheel being thrown on here.

more pics of the side of the motor before we changed out the belts etc...

The motors in and being tuned and worked on to get it running efficiently.

The motor is completely swapped, tuned and ready for the road! A few pictures I took in my driveway when I got the car home.

These are basically photo's of the stripping of the carpet, matting of the whole car and then the install of the new black carpet. It went in pretty well, even though it was sold to me by TAS under the premise that its a perfect fit and cut and molded specifically for my Accord, it ended up being short in some spots but we improvised and got it in there perfectly.

Pictures of the door panels from the Acura CL. These are actually more hybrid than anything because I re-used the top portion of the Accord door panels to salvage the door handles and locking mechanisms and used the lower portion from the Acura CL with the leather insert and anthracite/charcoal colored door panel.

A quick picture of the arm rest cover in black microsuede with red stitching. Its odd because in photos the microsuede looks gray/purple but to the naked eye its a normal black, odd, anyhow thats that.

A photo of the sueded center stack lower portion. The headliner, the pillars, the lower dash, middle seat belt pillars, rear deck, rear coupe side panels and a few other pieces of the car are also wrapped in microsuede. It looks sexy even though I havent had time to get more pics taken.

Acura RSX black leather seats going in. It required a decent amount of work, including the necessity to remove the rails from the stock accord seats and then welding the rails to the Acura RSX seats, then of course the whole safety issue came into play so we ended up using a thicker gauge of steel to insure that the install was more heavy duty and more susceptible to damage or wear. I think you can see the MOMO wheel in one of the photos.

Some of the earlier stages of the prep work and body work before the first coats of primer etc... go on the car.

These are basically the last pictures of the prep work before the car was ready for the paint process. If you notice in 2 of the pictures, the rear accord symbol holes were welded shut for the complete de-badged look to the car.

A few images of the car and some of its parts after the first few coats of clear. It looks pretty good.

So thats the end result. I havent gotten around to getting in touch with a friend of mine who knows a photographer who will take some nice professional pics of the car. I am very satisfied with the way the car came out, the body work was excellent although the CF hood turned out to have ended up costing me more than I would have knowingly spent on it to have it prepped and painted.

Let me know what you think!

I tried to make sure I used as many OEM/JDM parts as possible to keep it as Honda as possible. I've seen a lot of Accords that people have worked on and it seems like they've gotten lost in using parts that barely fit or ones that dont look as good as OEM parts.

Default Nice Job!

Looks clean!

I like that colour, looks like there is lots of metallic flake. You need to get some good pics of the beast. Honestly when you said that the paint had lots of glass. I immediately thought that you were going to post up pics of your Accord with that low rider gold chunk metallic paint. Am I ever glad that it wasn't what I thought. Nice Job

Really nice job, talk about breathing new life into a car. That thing will be good for another 15 yrs. If you don't mind my asking I'm in nj as well and wanted to get two of my cars painted maybe in the spring, just wondering who did the work and what was the ballpark cost. PM if you want or if not that's fine. Nice job though, interior looks nice. I need some nice leather for my cl in a bad way.

The work was done by Jacks Auto in Edison, NJ. He restores Corvettes and 60's/70's cars. With all the work he does, I think I paid just about 6100 for all the work, including the welding in metal where there was some rust, and then of course the de-badging and closing up any holes where the emblems etc... went. He also painted all of the black pieces on the car matte black, it includes painting my CF hood and also my backup valve cover the same color as the car. He also installed my new set of JDM headlights which I am soon going to take out and put in my old ones because these new ones are kinda not what I thought they'd be.

I would say that minus all the extra ****, you'll end up paying in the ballpark of 3500 or so. I had a lot of extra stuff done.

Yea, I had all sorts of people say black, white, silver, all sorts of colors. I figured that I might as well just keep it in the same color family. The guy who painted it basically took the bordeaux red formula which is comprised of maroon and burgundy, took out more of the burgundy and added a lot of glass to the color. So its not an exact replica of the stock color, however its 100% more metallic but not tacky, and it feels a little lighter if you park it next to a bordeaux red accord.

Well you get what you pay for and it looks like good work. I need my 99 civic and 97 cl done so I'll keep them in mind, just wondering but is that with the new parts excluding the carbon hood. Paint is so damn expensive, I'll prob have my civic done but the cl has 185k so I'll prob prep that myself and have maaco spray it. Good way to learn. Only problem is I'm ocd with that stuff, molding and tapelines, overspray etc.

One of the fenders was new, some of the moldings were new, a few things were new but they were a total of like 250 bucks for those parts. My CF hood was existing when I took it to get painted.

Good to see a clean Accord done in NJ.

I love the way the interior went, did you wrap the headliner your self? Mine was ripped and sagging horribly, but it wasn't the solid EX piece. So now I have none lol. I'm trying to look for a way to replace it without paying Honda $600

just spend about 80 bucks on the microsuede and the adhesive and you can do it yourself, its time consuming but it'll come out well. A friend of mine helped me with the headliner because I work a lot so I hit him off with some cash to work on some parts of my car. I helped when I could.

The matting is from the fatmat website, its actually made for that actual application. They also make one for the underside of the hood which I have but didnt put on yet and even one for the rear side of your license plate so your system doesnt rattle and ruin how the thousands spent really sounds!

Thanks for the compliments. I am trying to get my hands on the prelude H22 supercharger from Jackson Racing but I've had no luck as of yet, apparently they dont make it anymore.

Your going to need a lot more than a JRSC to get all that extra weight in sound mating down the road. Your going to need the biggest turbo you can get just to get to 60 j/k

All kidding aside, how much weight do you figure that added to your ride..... 10lbs?

I would probably say more like 35 lbs. Adding the heavier seats which are a few pounds apiece. Some of the other panels etc... However, the CF hood has decreased some of the weight. I would say the 35 ballpark.

The addition of the internal engine parts, valves, retainers, springs, sleeves, camshafts, cam gears, and other goodies has helped with the power issue, I've had it tuned twice since the swap, its fast enough...

I thought the JRSC didn't fit in the swapped accords because of a firewall issue...

You actually have to modify your firewall for it to fit, its definetly possible.
