New to the world of owning a 'Lude, need some advice.
Okay here's the skinny: i'm looking at a 4th gen Lude, 1993 Si, modified in the following ways: Power Steering and AC removed cleanly, SOHC F22 swap, Modified Computer/ECU with a VTEC Controller, and the battery moved to the back (I guess to distribute the weight).
I'm planning to make it a daily driver... it has slight dings in the body, which, of course, can be easily corrected, but here's the question at hand: how much should it cost me to get the power steering put back on it and make sure the car is tuned properly (tune up + the VTEC Controller, as it sometimes loses a bit of power and runs rough through first and second gears) overall, and what sort of power can I expect from a SOHC F22 in the 'Lude versus an H22 or similar DOHC swap?
Oh and the asking price starts at $1500, but I've offered to add the cost of repairs to what I pay for the car if SHE gets MY mechanic to put the power steering back in... good deal, or bad idea?

I wouldn't buy it.
What good is a vtec controller gonna do you with a non-vtec
honda accord motor.
You're gonna dump too much money into it when you can find one with a blown
motor, swap in a h22a and be in the same ballpark pricewise.

A 93 Si comes with a DOHC H23, so why did they downgrade to a SOHC F22? The Prelude S model came with an F22 stock.
If she has a VTEC controller, it probably has an Accord SOHC VTEC F22 in it.
If you are looking for a daily driver, this car sounds like it could be a headache. Sounds like a decent project car, but not a DD. Spend a little more and just get a non-molested Prelude. They aren't that muhc more.

Ok I know more now: the car was a Prelude Si, NON VTEC, when the original motor blew around 45k miles, so he dropped the SOHC F22 VTEC out of an Accord in it, and sunk some performance parts into it as well, though i don't know the manufacturer info on the parts, my Mechanic didn't go into that before telling me that the car looks amazing, and for the cost + repairs (less than $300, not counting body work) it's amazingly quick and fun to drive... he estimated it at around 210 hp as is...
It's got the tuned, ported SOHC F22 VTEC in it, performance shocks and handling upgrades, headers, custom exhaust and intake setup, all performance gear on the engine, injectors, pulleys and wheels, etc.
So i think, after talking to my mechanic, who's worked on my cars for 10 years, that I'm gonna take a risk and do this... I'll keep you posted, since I plan to upgrade the s*** outta this car, and eventually drop an H22 in it:-)
I"ll post pics as soon as I get it repainted:-)

That would have to be one built SOB or have a power adder to be
putting out that hp. Just sayin'

tell me about it... but that's what he said, and I've been using this mechanic for like 12 years... lol said we should put it on a dyno, mainly to satisfy his curiousity... but I don't really care... truth is I like the car, and that's that...
