Default misshifted please offer some sugestions

i was redlining 3rd getting ready to put in fourth when i went into 2nd and let go of the clutch pedal and i buried the tach i immediately put the clutch in and shifted back into neutral.
my idle is still normal and i dont hear any tapping of valves. is there anything i need to check. im quite paranoid right now about the car. the car starts and shuts down normally and drives ok.
what should i look for or check out.
FYI this is on a 95 GSR.

Run a compression test. If all is good then you got lucky.

Instead of putting down the guy for asking a simple question, try helping him. so who gives a flying f**k that he miss shifted, nobody is perfect. Every single damn day i come on this damn board, and see people flamming someone for a question or why they did what they did. Chill out guys.

Run a compression test, see what the results are then go from there.

Was the car at normal operating temp when the test was done. This can change the results. Also put a couple of drops of motor oil in there and if the compression rasies, its your rings.

the exact same thing happened to me a little while ago, dont worries baout it, we all make mistake.....Im shure you tried to shifted to fast and bang 2nd instead of fourth!!

go do a compression check, be shure to check your clutch and pressure plate, there are good chances that the shock of 13000rpm worned it out badly. My car ended up with 12 new valves and a new clutch....

by the way do you have a cel???

I'd say run a leakdown.

good reply 98itR484

I mishifted too and me being Mr. Paranoid did all kinds of tests ... and here they are, the compression test, leakdown test, dynoed the car, and the quarter mile test, a little over kill don't you think? . I was on 3rd and was going to 4th but landed on 2nd burried the needle past 9k almost looked like my tach was at 6 oclock . 7 months later I still do think about on how lucky I am and haunts me every once in a while since my friend has the video of it . Over all I am very impressed with my b16 cause of its strength or might just be one of the lucky ones but my friends call my engine the mighty mouse and funny thing about it , "I feel proud"

P.S. head will be worked on once it hits the 60000 mark along with the timing belt change

Default Ease his pain...

We all do it from time to time, its's like the saying you WILL dump your motorcycle once. When it happened to me, I was in third @ 9800, straight into second. Clutch was stuck to the floor, bouncing rev limiter. Drove it home carefully and you could tell there was something wrong. We took the head off, many bent jg valves...ACT 6 puck was trash...I think that was it. But when you break, upgrade! So we went with Ferrea valves. For me, it was about a 2 thousand dollar mistake. I would say pull your head and check the valves to be 100% sure.

Again, this is just to ease your worries. hehehe

Anytime you put any liquid into the cylinder including oil its going to raise cylinder PSI. A compression test is onl going to to tell you if your cylinder psi is adequete. If you want to know where your problem is, do a leakdown test. Aslo if your due for an vavle adjustment then your compression test numbers could be off as well.

why do people mis-shift?
Most people mis-shift because THEIR SEAT IS TOO FAR AWAY and they are in a POOR DRIVING POSITION. I see soooo many young drivers with the seat waaay too far back (trying to look cool in most cases). If you have to reach/stretch to reach the gear shift you will have a tendency to pull BACK AND TO THE LEFT instead of straight down.

Phat bastard, that is a posibility and well actually it makes perfect sense, I was sitting upright though .
Anyway last night on my way home from my friends house I was on crenshaw blvd in torrance and I was just cruisin off course and I noticed a car pacing on me for a while and I was thinking to myself why the hell is he not passing me because I was at the point where I got curious and tried slowing down so when I did he then passed me and saw it was an rsx-s with a aftermarket exhaust . I then picked up speed to 40mph then he slowed down and I passed him, If anyone in torrance know where the mobil plant is, that part of crenshaw has no thru streets just one long road till you hit a stoplight which is I think del amo bl. Anyway to make the long story short he wanted to do a flyby thats why he slowed down, he then came charging towards me and by the time he was right next to me he shifted then I just heard this loud change of tone which is a high sudden rev along with his car abruptly slowed down and jerked . I wondered for a moment and realized that he just mishifted, just thought I would share that story to you fellas out there ......

cheers,
judd
