dragged knee for the first time this weekend, have some questions
Got my knee down for the first time this weekend on rt 50 down in WV. It is a fun road and if you are in the WV, MD, western PA area I recommend you check it out. It is scenic with some decent twistys. It is down by Fairmont you hit 310 and then go to 50.
There are some tight decreasing radius u turns and I finally touched. Question though I still have the SV naked rearsets on my bike which are low but i mean in order to get my knee down i was dragging boot, and peg, and in my opinion i was hanging off pretty far. does this just mean I need to get rearsets, improve what was probably some horrible body positioning or what?
All in all it was an awesome experience.

It is possible to have decent body positioning with your stock rearsets, but raising them using plates or afermarket rearsets will make things a whole lot easier. I suggest you go out a practice more, preferably on a track in a controlled environment. Congrats on getting your knee down, though.

ya i want to get out on the track just kind of hasn't worked out when i've had money to do a day. Not completely justifying it but I could see the entire way through the turn that i was hitting hard.
I would say it's hard to say without viewing your riding. I read Cbrforum.com all the time and a lot of guys with F4i's complain that you can't lean it over real far without dragging the rear-sets. Others claim they have tracked them and if you are off the bike enough you won't have a problem so it's all a matter of opinion or the rider.
That said I don't know if your bike is more prone to dragging rear sets or not. lol

It's totally possible to get down with stock F4i rearsets. This is a pic of my friend Steve last Friday on his near-stock 2001 CBR600 F4i. The rearsets are usually the first thing to go on these bikes when they start pulling track duty, so maybe it's time to change them out.
Well, both me and Blindstuff have been able to drag knee without dragging boots nor pegs. And we both ride nakeds like you. You should just hang off a little more to accomplish that. I don't know if my body positioning is perfect, but after all, we're always working on it.

Ya who knows it would be nice to have a picture of myself just to see how jacked up I am haha. I just checked the local track and there are no more track days this season. I guess I am waiting for next summer.

i did a few laps at Pahrump on a naked stock SV. and goddamn those rearsets are low. I've got pretty good body position (haha, imo of course) and it's hard for me to imagine getting off the bike enough to drag knee w/o boot on that bike.
it's possible, but at that point you may be too far off the bike.
rearsets or rearset risers are key on the SV and the F4i imo, some bikes, not so much: i got by on the k5 w/o needing rearsets, and the 675 has enough ground clearance to get them out of the way.
