Default Headlight problems... NEED HELP FAST!

how ya doin everyone? I just bought a 92 lude and drove it home the other day. and i bought it to drive to work in the mornings. well everything works, it has a f22b dohc non-vtec motor, manual tranny, and cai. other than that its stock.

So yea, when i turn the headlight switch on, only the daytime running lights turn on. but when i flick the windshield washer on, the high beams come on for some reason. the windshield washer sprayer doesnt work and the high beams only come on when i dont have the key turned to the on position. when i go to turn the car on, the headlights turn completely off. i looked at the lighting relay and dimmer relay but thats pretty much it, i have no idea how to check those. and i checked the L and R headlight fuses with a light test and a light didnt pop up. so theres no power going to the fuses i guess. i need help bad. i have to drive to work tomorrow and i have no headlights working. any suggestions on what to do or check will be greatly appreciated.

Might be the ground for the headlights.

yea i looked under the dash and i saw a bunch of BS. wires everywhere. whoever and whatever they did, it looked really unorganized and unprofessional. so i was moving wires around to look and see what else was under there and i must of did something bad and all the lights dont work now. the headlights, daytime running lights, brake lights and all the rest of the outside lights do not work.

i took the prelude to the shop where i bought it from earlier today before i looked under the dash and they said it was the headlight switch and windshield washer switch that was faulty. so they ordered both and should be in tomorrow. well it looks like its more than just switches that are F'd up. im taking it in tomorrow anyways and im going to tell them WTF and what i found. its all gonna be free of charge regardless.

any guesses of what the problem could be?

It's the wiring. Switches don't just go bad because you moved around some wires. I would not pay them for any switches...

Look around in there for any poorly done connectors, electrical tape, exposed wiring, etc. There's a lot of wires in there and it's confusing, but somewhere in all the mess is 1 or 2 wires that are the problem.

download the prelude manual, pin out each color individually and trouble shoot through the headlight colors.. it sounds like you blew a fuse when you moved the wires around. probably shorted something out
