how to paint brake lights or tint them
haha ^^
Ok well I tinted my factory honda lights and they came out really nice.
you'll need:
spray tint (local paint shop, some auto shops have it)
fine sand paper, 800 preferably
dish soap
scotch brite, or other similar material
and a nice outdoor clear coat protectant
First you have to get some really REALLY fine sand paper (800 works great). sand them to get them smooth and alttle rough, you dont want scratch marks or sanding marks left in the tail lights or else it will show up after you are all done.
after your done with the sanding, just wash wiith some dish soap and a scotch brite pad to remove excess dirt and oil and anyother unwanted stuff on there
let them AIR DRY or use a LINTLESS cloth to dry them. after all dry start with a thin layer of spray tint, let dry for 10 mintues, make sure its nice and smooth (can use steal wool in between coats if wanted, but make sure you wipe clean or wash again before you apply another coat!). then repeat that process until the lights are tinted to your preference. after all done, let dry for 20-30 minutes. wash lightly with a little soap and scotch brite pad, or really lightly with steal wool. wash off all excess soapy water with cool water.
spray two light coats of clear protectant over the lights and you are all set. let the lights dry over night and they will be ready to install!
here is a picture of the lights i did yesterday!

i might have missed something so lmk of your questions!!
Oha and I taped off the back up lights so they would stay clear, looks more legit that way

actually, the way i have done it that comes out shining just like ur car is with automotive clear coat..you pour out a small amount of clear coat then add a little bit of black paint in the clear, mix it up and begin giving the lights coats...it will be up to you how dark you want to make them, then add coats with about 5 minute intervals until desired tint is reached

I wish I could show you guys the pics of my lights on my 08 accord. I have the blue one. My painter took the stock color, mixed it with clear and tinted all my lights. They are buffed to perfection and get people breaking their necks all day long. Don't rattle can it, and if you do, have a paint shop mix automotive black pearl with clear and have them put it in a aresol can.........
