Default is this unusual???

a buddy of mine had a 94 accord ex 4door...it was killing 99 civic si's, civic ex's, and hanging with 90+ integra's with header intake n exhaust when he was all stock! I mean BONE STOCK...his vtec screamed though...sounds like a turbo when you're next to him...too bad he totalled it...but yea...arent they supposed to be doing like 16's stock??? jw

Not all motors are created equal! He probably got the car with an unusually strong motor. Or maybe he just got lucky and everyone he raced couldn't drive. j/k
I have two friends with stock motors that are really quick for what they are. one is a 95 prelude vtec and the other is a 95 gsr and they both run mid to low 14's with just intake and header.

if this is street racing it's a lot different....the other car could have a couple people in it or they could have subs or whatever...anything to affect the speed of the other car could be a factor...and he is probably just telling you about the people he has beat as well...hell, i've beat an si before...but he's probably lost a lot of times as well....so just something to think about!

i've had honda techs who test drive my car tell me that my car has a freak motor, its considerabely quicker than the other accords they drive everyday(and this was when it was 100% stock except for suspension). i like my f22b1 and am staying with it.

yeah that is quite wierd...i have a friend w/a 97ex and it seems not as quick as mine, but all mine has is a cai, exhaust, plugs/wires. (at the time) now my car has reached about 90k and everything is going down hill, had to replace a/c unit, lines, evaporator, clutch is slippin bad, feeling loss of power in 3rd etc. and decided to not boost but to get a lude motor. i actually had quite a kill list. it was quite remarkable too. i actually got drunk a lot after due to being so happy. hahahaha like "wtf i smoked a si with subs and a fat homeboy in the car..TWICE!!" love my motor...wish i was rich and buy a 4th gen to drop it in but oh well..

my 96 had a stronger motor it pulled hard to the 135 speed govenor on a short span of highway, even with more mods on my current motor it likes to set camp at 120ish... .. sigh.. i need a dyno.

It could be that you're friend had carbon build up on the pistons, and that carbon build up upped the compression on the motor slightly. If you all will recall, the SCC project EG Civic was unusually strong when they first got it. It seems that the carbon build up on the pistons of the little D15 were the culprit in the abnormally quick quarter mile times.
